Art 7 - Obligations for messaging interoperability

Article 7 of the EU Digital Markets Act requires designated core platform services that provide messaging to ensure technical interoperability with competing services, allowing users to exchange messages across platforms. The rule mandates that the platform supplies open APIs, documentation and reasonable terms so that alternative providers can build compatible messaging features, while safeguarding security, privacy and the integrity of the service.
