Art 1 - Scope and aim

Article 1 defines the Directive's purpose and scope, establishing rules for protecting personal data and privacy in electronic communications across the EU. It sets out that the legislation applies to public and private electronic service providers and aims to ensure the confidentiality of communications while balancing the free flow of information.
