Art 5 - Confidentiality of communications

Article 5 of Directive 2002/58/EC sets the confidentiality principle for electronic communications, mandating that the content of any communication must not be intercepted, monitored or stored without the user's explicit consent, except where authorised by law for reasons such as national security. Service providers are required to implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to safeguard that confidentiality.
