Art 6 - Traffic data
Article 6 of the 2002/58/EC Directive sets out the rules for handling traffic data, which are information processed for the conveyance of a communication, such as source, destination, time, length, and route. It requires that traffic data be erased or made anonymous once its purpose is fulfilled, unless the data are needed for billing, quality of service, or legal obligations, and it obliges providers to ensure confidentiality and security of the data.
