The Equator Principles version 4 are a set of environmental and social risk management standards that financial institutions apply to project-finance transactions larger than ten million US dollars. Under code s_1, lenders must ensure borrowers conduct impact assessments, develop mitigation plans and adhere to internationally recognised safeguards throughout project development and operation. Compliance is monitored through independent reviews and ongoing reporting.
