Chapter V - Public Sector Access to Private Data

Chapter V of the EU Data Act (2023/2854) sets out the rules for public-sector bodies to access private-sector data. It defines the circumstances, procedures and safeguards that must be applied to ensure data is shared for public interest purposes while protecting commercial confidentiality and personal privacy. The chapter also establishes oversight mechanisms and compensation arrangements for data providers.
