Sec 610 - Conditions for Disclosure to Consumers
Section 610 of the Fair Credit Reporting Act sets the rules for when consumer reporting agencies may reveal a consumer's credit information. It requires that disclosures be made only to a person with a permissible purpose, such as a lender or employer, and that the consumer be notified of the source and purpose of the report. The section also mandates procedures for obtaining the consumer's written consent when required.
