Sec 617 - Civil Liability for Negligent Noncompliance

Section 617 of the Fair Credit Reporting Act establishes civil liability for parties that negligently fail to comply with the Act's requirements, permitting affected individuals to sue for actual damages, statutory damages, punitive damages and reasonable attorney fees, and authorizing courts to award injunctive relief.
