Title I - Facilitating Affiliation Among Banks, Securities Firms, and Insurance Companies

Title I of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act of 1999 authorizes banks, securities firms and insurance companies to affiliate and form consolidated financial holding companies, effectively repealing the restrictions of the Glass-Steagall Act. It also sets out supervisory standards and consumer-privacy safeguards that apply to these newly integrated institutions.
