Individual Rights (164.520-164.528)

The HIPAA privacy rule sections 164.520-164.528 define the rights individuals have over their protected health information. They grant patients the ability to access, obtain copies of, and request amendment of their records, to receive an accounting of disclosures, to request restrictions on certain uses, to request confidential communications, and to be notified of breaches.
