Sec 201 - Fraud and Abuse Control Program

Section 201 of the 1996 Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act establishes the Fraud and Abuse Control Program, directing the Secretary of Health and Human Services to develop and enforce measures that detect, prevent, and sanction fraud, waste, and abuse in health-care programs, including the creation of enforcement mechanisms, penalties, and oversight responsibilities for both public and private entities.
