Sec 263 - Privacy of Individually Identifiable Health Information

Section 263 of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act establishes federal protection for individually identifiable health information. It requires covered entities to implement administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, limits uses and disclosures without patient authorization, and grants individuals rights to access, amend, and receive an accounting of disclosures of their medical records.
