Economic displacement

Entry 5_2 of the IFC Performance Standards addresses economic displacement, requiring projects to identify and avoid adverse impacts on local businesses, jobs and income sources, and to provide appropriate compensation, livelihood restoration or alternative opportunities when displacement cannot be avoided. It aims to safeguard affected communities from loss of economic wellbeing and ensure that benefits are shared fairly.
