C111 - Discrimination (Employment and Occupation) Convention
The ILO's C111 Convention defines discrimination in employment and occupation as any distinction, exclusion or preference based on race, colour, sex, religion, political opinion, national origin or social origin that impairs equality of opportunity or treatment. It obliges ratifying states to adopt policies and legislation to promote equal access to work, eliminate discriminatory practices, and provide remedies for victims. The convention aims to create a workplace free from bias and open to all qualified individuals.
