4.2 Documentation requirements
ISO 13485:2016 requires that organizations establish, control, and maintain documented information necessary for an effective quality management system, including a quality manual, procedures, work instructions, and records. Documentation must define responsibilities, specify processes, and be reviewed and approved before issue, with changes controlled to ensure that current versions are available where needed. All required documents and records must be retained for a period stipulated by regulatory or contractual obligations.
