5.5 System boundary

The system boundary defines which processes, material and energy flows are included or excluded in a life-cycle assessment, establishing the scope of the study relative to the functional unit. It delineates the temporal, spatial and technological limits of the product or service system, ensuring that all relevant stages-from raw material extraction to disposal-are consistently accounted for in the LCA model.
