8.4 Emergency preparedness and response

Clause 8.4 of ISO 22000:2018 requires organizations to establish, implement and maintain procedures for emergency preparedness and response, ensuring that potential food-safety incidents such as contamination, natural disasters or equipment failures are anticipated, controlled and mitigated. It mandates identification of hazards, assignment of responsibilities, provision of resources, training, communication protocols and periodic testing or review to maintain effective readiness.
