R1 - Electronic Security Perimeter

CIP-005 R1 requires bulk electric system owners and operators to create an electronic security perimeter that isolates all CIP-rated cyber assets from non-CIP networks. The perimeter must be enforced with firewalls, intrusion-detection or prevention systems, and strict access controls, and must be documented, monitored, and regularly tested to ensure its integrity.
