Subpart S - Underground Construction and Tunneling

Subpart S of OSHA's Construction Safety Standards (29 CFR Part 1926) sets mandatory safety and health requirements for underground construction and tunneling work, including excavation, shoring, shielding, and protective systems, as well as procedures for entry, ventilation, and emergency response to protect workers from cave-in, hazardous atmospheres, and other underground hazards.
