Solvency Capital Requirement (SCR)

The Solvency Capital Requirement (SCR) is the core quantitative capital standard defined by Directive 2009/138/EC, setting the amount of assets insurers must hold to limit the probability of insolvency to 0.5 % over one year. It is calculated using a prescribed standard formula or an approved internal model to capture market, underwriting and operational risk exposures.
