Part XII - Protection and Preservation of the Marine Environment

Part XII of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea establishes the legal framework for protecting and preserving the marine environment, obligating states to prevent, reduce and control pollution from all sources, adopt standards for discharge, conduct monitoring, and cooperate in scientific research and enforcement.
