Treatment Requirements (Art 8)

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (2012/19/EU) mandates that member states establish systems for the collection, treatment and environmentally sound recovery of WEEE. Article 8 sets specific treatment requirements, obliging producers and recyclers to meet minimum recycling and recovery targets, ensure safe dismantling, and prevent hazardous substances from entering the waste stream.
