Article 6 - Recognition of Conformity Assessment by Central Government Bodies

Article 6 of the WTO Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade obliges member governments to accept conformity-assessment results-such as testing, inspection or certification-performed by bodies designated by the central authority of another member, provided the procedures are transparent, non-discriminatory and meet the agreement's essential principles. This facilitates market access by reducing redundant assessments while allowing each government to maintain oversight of the designated bodies.
