Telecommunications and Information Security

Category 5 of the Commerce Control List governs telecommunications and information-security items, encompassing hardware, software and technology used for transmitting voice, data, video and other signals, as well as equipment and encryption components that protect network communications. Control applies to both commercial and dual-use products that provide or enhance secure communications, network management and information-security functions.
