Category 14 in the GHG Protocol corporate scope-3 framework records emissions associated with franchised operations that the reporting company does not own or control, such as retail or service outlets operated by independent franchisees. It captures both upstream and downstream emissions arising from the franchisees' energy use, waste, and other activities linked to the company's brand.
