**Definition:** A disease caused by an infection with the gram-positive bacteria Listeria. This disease commonly presents with fever and muscle aches, followed by gastrointestinal symptoms.

**Long definition:** Gram positive bacterial infection with the genus Listeria including Listeria meningitis which causes clinical manifestations including fever, altered mentation, headache, meningeal signs, focal neurologic signs, and seizures.
