Mononucleosis due to Epstein-Barr virus

**Definition:** A disease typically caused by an infection with Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). This disease commonly presents with extreme fatigue, fever, acute pharyngitis, body aches, or lymphadenopathy. Transmission is by direct contact with infected body fluids, commonly through saliva.
