Mononucleosis due to cytomegalovirus

**Definition:** A disease typically caused by an infection with cytomegalovirus. This disease commonly presents with extreme fatigue, fever, acute pharyngitis, body aches, or lymphadenopathy. Transmission is by direct contact with infected body fluids, commonly through saliva.
