Acquired ataxia
**Definition:** Ataxia that is caused by a variety of exogenous and endogenous factors and is not clearly hereditary. May be seen in the setting of drug toxicity, post-viral cerebellitis, acute disseminated encephalomyelitis, traumatic brain injury, hypoxia, heat stroke, Wernicke’s encephalopathy, Miller Fisher syndrome, basilar migraine, or conversion reaction.
