Epilepsy due to prenatal or perinatal vascular insults

**Definition:** Epilepsy occurring in relation to an ischemic stroke or haemorrhagic stroke, with the stroke occurring or presumed to occur before birth [prenatal] or between 22 weeks of gestation and 7 days after birth [perinatal]. No other conditions associated with a substantially increased risk of developing epilepsy are present. Onset of epilepsy may be in infancy, childhood, or adulthood.
