Single seizure due to remote causes

**Definition:** An unprovoked seizure occurring in a patient with no history of antecedent seizures but with abnormalities of brain development or a potentially responsible clinical condition (metabolic, structural, toxic). The temporal relationship with the CNS insult is beyond the interval estimated for the occurrence of acute symptomatic seizures. The CNS insult may be static or progressive.
