Generalised tonic-clonic seizure

**Definition:** A seizure characterized by an abrupt onset with loss of consciousness and bilateral tonic extension of the trunk and limbs (tonic phase) followed by synchronous muscle jerking (clonic phase). Usually followed by a postictal phase, lasting for several minutes up to hours, characterized by initial mydriasis, body relaxation, hypotonia, and sleep.
