Autonomic dysreflexia

**Definition:** This is a potentially dangerous disorder associated with damage to the spinal cord above the sixth thoracic level characterized by a marked increase in the sympathetic response to minor stimuli. It leads to sudden severe hypertension which can be life-threatening.
