**Definition:** There have been cases of Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD) associated with neurosurgical procedures and stereotactic electroencephalogram (EEG) electrode placement on the brain, particularly in the 1950s to 1970s when the transmissibility of prions was not yet recognised.
