Xanthelasma of eyelid
**Definition:** Xanthelasmata are a form of plane xanthoma which manifest as sharply demarcated yellowish deposits of lipid within the skin of the eyelid. While they are neither harmful nor painful, these minor growths may be disfiguring and may be the presenting sign of hypercholesterolaemia. They are common in people of Asian origin and those from the Mediterranean region.
