Orbital subperiosteal abscess

**Definition:** A condition of the eye and adnexa, caused by an infection with a bacterial source. This condition is characterised by a focal accumulation of purulent material in the bones that support the globe, fever, crusting of the eye, swelling of the eye, or proptosis. Confirmation is by identification of the bacterial agent.
