Ventricular tachyarrhythmia

**Definition:** Any ventricular rhythm disturbance with a rate faster than the normal age dependent ventricular escape rate.

**Long definition:** Ventricular tachycardia is a cardiac arrhythmia of three or more consecutive complexes in duration emanating from the ventricles at a rate of greater than 120 bpm in adolescents or adults and a rate greater than 150 bpm in child. Ventricular tachycardia may occur with or without loss of cardiac output.
