Ventricular fibrillation

**Definition:** Ventricular fibrillation is a rapid grossly irregular ventricular rhythm, usually more than 300 bpm/200 ms (cycle length 180 ms or less), with marked variability in QRS cycle length, morphology, and amplitude, associated with loss of cardiac output, and is usually sustained, requiring intervention to terminate.
