Drug-induced or toxic liver disease with acute hepatic necrosis or acute hepatitis
**Definition:** This is an acute hepatocellular injury that develops within 1 to 20 weeks after starting treatment. The histological lesions consist mainly of focal, zonal or bridging necrosis, but lobular and portal tract inflammation evident with drug hepatitis. Extrahepatic features of drug hypersensitivity, including rash, lymphadenopathy, eosinophilia or other systemic features, are observed in some cases.
