**Definition:** Functional dyspepsia is a disorder defined as the presence of dyspepsia symptoms thought to originate from the gastroduodenal region, in the absence of any organic, systemic, or metabolic disease that is likely to explain the symptoms such as epigastric pain, epigastric burning, postprandial fullness, and early satiation.
