Cerebellar haemorrhage due to birth injury
**Definition:** Haemorrhage into the cerebellum, hemispheres or vermis, due to trauma. Occipitaloseodiastasis with breech delivery is the most common cause of this injury.
**Long definition:** Haemorrhage into the cerebellum, hemispheres or vermis, due to trauma. Occipitaloseodiastasis with breech delivery is the most common cause of this injury. Symptoms usually occur in the first 24-48 hours after delivery. There is a higher incidence of psychomotor retardation, cognitive defects and learning problems in childhood.
