Care involving dialysis

**Definition:** Care involving dialysis includes the preparation and maintenance of the patient and carer(s) on dialysis whether extracorporeal or peritoneal dialysis. This includes, but is not confined to: education, counselling, assessment and management of co-morbidities, prevention and management of infections (particularly blood borne) and psychosocial assessment and support.
