M2 Macrophage

**Semantic type:** Cell

**Definition:** A macrophage that produces high levels of interleukin (IL)-10, TGF-beta and low levels of IL-12 and converts arginine to ornithine. These cells may both encourage tissue repair and inhibit inflammation.
