Herbaspirillum huttiense

**Definition:** A species of Gram-negative, motile, spirillum-shaped bacteria in the phylum Proteobacteria that is unable to grow in N2-free medium and lacks the nitrogen-fixing genes nifH and nifD. H. huttiense is oxidase- and catalase-positive, nitrate reduction negative, and able to hydrolyse urea.
