**Definition:** A vaccine composed of the replication-defective plaque purified recombinant canarypox virus (ALVAC) that encodes the glycoprotein 100 (gp100) gene, with potential antineoplastic activity. Vaccination with ALVAC gp100 may stimulate the host immune system to mount a cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) response against tumor cells positive for the gp100 melanoma antigen, resulting in decreased tumor growth.
