IGH/MAF Fusion Gene

**Definition:** A fusion gene that results from a chromosomal translocation, t(14;16)(q32;q23), which results in the juxtaposition of a strong transcriptional enhancer from the immunoglobulin heavy chain (IGH) gene locus with the promoter region of the MAF gene. This rearrangement is associated with multiple myeloma.
