Eciruciclib

**Semantic type:** Pharmacologic Substance

**Definition:** An orally bioavailable selective inhibitor of cyclin-dependent kinase (CDK) types 2 (CDK2), 4 (CDK4) and 6 (CDK6), with potential antineoplastic activity. Upon oral administration, eciruciclib selectively targets and inhibits CDK2, CDK4 and CDK6, which inhibits the phosphorylation of retinoblastoma protein (Rb) early in the G1 phase, prevents CDK-mediated G1-S-phase transition and leads to cell cycle arrest. This leads to cell cycle arrest, the induction of apoptosis, and the inhibition of tumor cell proliferation. CDKs, serine/threonine kinases that are important regulators of cell cycle progression and cellular proliferation, are upregulated in many tumor cell types. Eciruciclib may be able to penetrate through the blood-brain barrier (BBB).

**Synonyms:** - BP I1178 - BP-I1178 - BPI1178 - CDK2/4/6 Inhibitor BPI-1178 - ECIRUCICLIB
