Thymidylate Synthase Inhibitor

**Definition:** Any substance that inhibits thymidylate synthase, an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of uridine monophosphate to thymidine monophosphate, the rate-limiting step in de novo production of dTMP. Inhibition of thymidylate synthase causes inhibition of DNA synthesis and cell proloferation.
