IGL/MYC Fusion Gene

**Definition:** A fusion gene that results from a chromosomal translocation, t(8;22)(q24;q11), which results in the juxtaposition of a strong transcriptional enhancer from the immunoglobulin lambda light chain (IGL) gene locus with either a promoter region for or upstream of exon 2 of the MYC gene. This fusion is associated with Burkitt lymphoma and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL).
