ALVAC-CEA (VCP248)

**Definition:** A replication-defective recombinant canarypox virus (ALVAC) that contains the entire human carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) gene. Vaccination with ALVAC-CEA (VCP248) may stimulate the host immune system to mount a cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) response against CEA-positive tumor cells, thereby decreasing tumor growth. (NCI04)
